The main headline from the weekend came off the field with the sacking of Derby County manager Nigel Clough after their 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. Queens Park Rangers and Burnley continued their strong starts, while Bolton Wanderers scraped a draw against Yeovil Town.
The East Midlands derby was the early kick-off on Saturday, and it was Nottingham Forest who came out on top to beat Derby for the first time since 2011. Jack Hobbs’ first-half header was the only goal of the game, nodding home an Andy Reid corner. Derby’s Richard Keogh was dismissed after the break for a foul in the box on Chris Cohen, but Darius Henderson saw his penalty saved by Lee Grant.
