With Queens Park Rangers not playing, Burnley took full advantage to move to the top of the table with a 2-0 win at Doncaster Rovers. Leicester City moved to third with another victory, while Derby County came from 4-1 down to draw 4-4 with Ipswich Town in the first game since the sacking of Nigel Clough.
Burnley secured their fifth successive league win with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers. Sam Vokes scored a penalty at the end of the first half after he was fouled by Rob Jones, who later saw a Kieran Trippier cross deflect off him and into the goal with only a few minutes remaining. In-form Federico Macheda had the best chances for Doncaster but he couldn’t find the back of the net, and the defeat means his side have slipped to 18th in the table.
